In 2021, a group of individuals born in Gondar, now residing in various parts of the world, visited Wolkait-Tegede and Humera, gaining firsthand insight into the profound impacts of the TPLF’s forceful administration of the region. The visit revealed a legacy of economic marginalization, cultural oppression, and widespread human rights violations inflicted upon the people of Wolkait-Tegede, exemplified by the tragic Maikadra massacre. Motivated to address these injustices, the group established the Maikadra Foundation, dedicated to uplifting the region through humanitarian aid, development, and peace building. The foundation supports survivors of the Maikadra massacre with essential humanitarian assistance, provides water pumps to empower local farmers, and conducts peace building training to foster reconciliation and resilience, aiming to restore dignity and promote sustainable progress for the communities of Wolkait-Tegede and Humera.
Our Mission
Maikadra Foundation is committed to supporting the survivors of war and genocide, particularly in the Wolkait-Tegede-Telemt and the rest of Amhara regionby rebuilding war-damaged economies, schools, and health centers.
